Rutting Season in Richmond Park – Photo from a Sunday Cycle

January in Richmond and the lycra-clad road racers are not the only men competing with each other in London's Royal Park. While stern-faced men on expensive carbon frames whiz around the park hidden in amongst the bracken the parks stags vie for the attention of does.

Taking a Sunday ride this afternoon I was lucky enough to get this shot of two stags rutting. Still getting to grips with my new Nikon D7000 I would prefer the shot to have the background less blurred to enhance the movement of the stags. Not what you expect to find inside the M25.

  1. Man, I have been following your blog for a while since I was goggling info about travelling by bike. Since then I have been to Laos and China with my bike (http://alinhadefuga.blogspot.com/2010/05/85-china.html) and other places with no bike (sorry my blog is in Portuguese).
Anyway, I recently moved to London, and WOW! This weekend, no yesterday, SUNDAY, I made a huge bike tour by myself from East London to … Richmond and I was frustrated I couldnt get a decent picture of a deer!
    What a coincidence!
I liked your blog in the first place cause we had very similar favorite dishes (I have also travelled the world extensible). I had Ceviche in Peru in 1st place, Israeli humus in second and instead of your fish tacos for third I have an open 3rd with too many dishs:
