And the Winner Is… Guild of Food Writers Nomination for THC
Having only ever won a dusty jar of pickled cocktail onions in a tombola at a village fete in 1989, the taste of victory is not something I am familiar with. But this might change on Thursday evening in the Design museum in London.
The Hungry Cyclist – Pedaling The Americas In Search of The Perfect Meal has been shortlisted for a prestigious Guild of Food Writers award alongside Sushi and Beyond: What the Japanese Know About Cooking by Michael Booth and an episode of BBC Radio 4's Food Programe about Iceland.
Going head to head for the Kate Whiteman award for work concerning food and travel I promise not to weep if my name comes out of the envelope first, and with some fine catering planned for the event as well as some tasty wine I hope to cycle home with more than a few pickled onions in the tank.
Fingers crossed for more than onions!
